swar bar and lower ball joint???? 200

I replaced my sway bar bushings with poly bushings, and lower ball joint LH, I have a few questions that the bently manual doesn't mention.

1. How do you tighten the nut on the ball joint that connects it to the lower strut plate. I had to use a pair of channel locks and was very nervous about tearing the boot. I couldn't do the right side because of rain.
I talked to a friend and he said they usually have a allen slot to hold the shaft, mine doesn't.

2. How tight do you tighten the nut at the end of the sway bar. (Sorry I don't know the name of it) I thinks its called the connecting rod. It connects the swaybar to the A arm. I think I may have it to tight.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, forgot to add about the torquing of the sway bar link. there is no guidance in the bentley book, none stated. this question is perennial.

i tightened mine until hand tight. 30-40 ft-lbs?

others in archive may have some additional input.

    regards,
    byron

hello, if i remember correctly, i used a 10 mm wrench with a built-in rachet & used a socket and rachet, too. you will need to use the open end of the wrench for one of the bolts.

i also turned the wheel from left to right to get to all 4 bolts. i can't remember if i used 2 jacks, either, but i now need to r&r my ball joints for my "new" 92 245.

i was able to torque some of the bolts correctly, but i couldn't get to one of the. so i guessed, based on how hard i tightened the others, so far so good, after 4-5 months.

    hope this helps,
    byron golden
