Hey all! Just another update....
So after spending 30+ hours over Memorial Day weekend (or is it Labor Day? I always get them mixed up...the one last month)installing fender welt, chrome, glass, lights, etc. the PV is alive again. Looks awesome, too. I got it running, but was blowing my 25 amp fuse every time I started it.
I finally ran out of time to try and get things fixed, since my wedding was coming up, and relatives who fly all the way across the country tend to get miffed if they never see you because your head is in your car. So I decided to drive it down to X-Ray in Ballard, WA for a carb balance and to have the short traced. (It was the wiper motor).
About two blocks from my house on the maiden voyage since restoration, there was a loud clunk and I looked out the window to see my front wheel rolling down the street. I swear 8 people stopped to help. I love Seattle.
No sheet metal damage, but I ended up needing a new brake rotor. Anyway, she's running OK now, and the O/D works great, but there's some frame vibration at low speed because the tranny is crammed in too tight. I don't think the tunnel was widened enough, so when I get back from the honeymoon, the motor is coming out and I'm going to have that reworked. Also on the list are some new bumper brackets, as the old ones are badly tweaked. I figure that as long as the bumpers are just for show anyway, I'll have some brackets made up that'll pull the bumpers closer in to the car for a cleaner look.
Honestly, if I hadn't just spent so much on buying the damn things, I'd be tempted to run the car without them. It looks awesome. And it's ready to drive away from my wedding tonight. Anyway, I need to go get married in about 6 hours here, so I'll leave it at that and hopefully get a pic up here when I get back!
