I checked a few posts on this problem but I would like a few more inputs before I go and do something irrversible. On my 89 240 auto tranny I am getting pressure from the gas tank when I remove the cap.. My 89 244 manuel does not do this. I replaced the cap with a new one and still the same thing. So as a last attempt I replaced the cap with the one from the other 240.. Same thing..Could I really be looking at replacing the Charcole cannister or worse??Thanks all......Max

No pressure in the tank indicates that the evaporative emissions system is leaking. I'd check the fuel filler neck as well as the evaporative emissions equipment in the trunk near the fuel filler neck for leaks.
