motor mount swap for a cheapskate? 700

I have an 88 740 that should have the mounts replaced. It has the hydraulic mounts and I wanted to know if I could replace them with the rubber, err cheaper, mounts. Can I do this?

I did the same thing. I used the harder rubber mounts because they were a little cheaper. After doing it though, I regret my decision.

They are a little stiffer than the hydraulic. I think they make the engine rattle a little more. If I had to do it over again, I'd have spent the extra $20 and gotten the good ones.

There are solid replacements for the hydraulic mounts; in this case, yes, but you can't use the earlier sold mounts unless you change the brackets, too.

They make solid rubber replacements for the auto tranny which are ~ $10 cheaper than the hydraulic and if it's a manual trans, yes for $8 ea.
