cruise control out of control!! 200

Hey now,
Just wondering if anybody could help out. I just recently tried to install remote electric mirrors using the number one fuse position. It was getting dark out so I ended the job with only one mirror installed. As I was heading off for a long 800 mile trip I disconnected everything and insulated all the (uninstalled) wires for the mirror. On the long trip I noticed that the cruise control gets defeated (turned off) when the lights are turned on. Otherwise the cruise and the lights work fine - but Not together. I checked the connections at the fuse but could'nt find anything wrong. What have I done? Has anybody had this problem? Any advice would be extremely appreciated! (ever try to to drive 800 miles with no cruise control? it's actually quite painful and exhausting.

sounds to me like a ground wire didn't get replaced somewhere or there is one rusted out and no longer making contact....

I'd put my money on the former since you just got done with some electrical work that you had to put away in the dark...

but these are all just suspicions... try to think back as to which grounds you may have removed and check those.

good luck

Don't know about the CC sounds pretty weird. Check to make sure your alt/battery is charging properly, low voltage could be kicking the CC's brain off when the lights are on. Re driving without CC, I've driven thousands of miles without it, actually last year was the first time in my life I had CC, and I do love it. When you don,t have it the trick is to get good a driving with your left foot on the gas sometimes, this aloows you to stretch out the right foot sometimes. At first it's a bit rough, but soon enough you get good at it.
