I have a '95 960 that I have become very fond of. It has the 2.9L straight 6 with around 185hp. If I had one compliant about the car, it would be that the 960 is slightly underpowered. I would like 30-40 more horsepower. I have seen plenty of performance "bolt-on" upgrades for the 7's and the turbos, but next to nothing for the 960. Anybody got any ideas?

Also, many thanks to all who have posted regarding intermittent engine stalling on this car. I have been fighting the same problems with this car for about a year now. Cleaned and greased as many electrical contacts as I could find over the weekend!

There IS a chip available for the 95-98 B6304 engines. It's available from SCT-Tuning.com in Sweden and you have to e-mail them (Niclas Svensson) about the US spec 181 HP B6304 chip that takes the engine to 210 HP with the addition of the SCT chip and a 'high flow' air filter. I don't know what it does for the TQ curves since those graphs weren't availbale.

According to these guys, you can get a chip for your car. I am not aware of anybody with a 960 who has one that can provide any more information. I have been considering it myself, but don't know if it's worth it to me or not, especially when I can't talk to somebody that actually has one and can say if it works as advertised.

Aside from that, I'm not aware of much else you can do. If you have any ideas, let me know. I would be interested in getting a little more power out of my car too. I would be happy for another 10%, so I can break the 200hp barrier, and also put torque up to 220 or so. But I'll always take more if I can get it!

Thanks! I also found www.eurosporttuning.com has an upgraded ECU that takes us from 181hp to 200+. That in conjunction with a performance filter and potentially a throttle body... who knows.
