16 valve whine 900

I just purchased a 940 92 218,000kms

I bought the 16 valve version. This engine overall seems quiet but tends to whine a lot more than my 8 valve 740. Is this normal ?

It also tends to hold onto the first gear for a much longer period than my 740. Is this normal ?. (the gear changes otherwise are quite smooth)

Anything i should know about the 16 valve engines besides the timeing belts ?

Regards David

the whine is usually because the balance shaft belt isn't tensioned right. either too loose or too tight. could also be an idler bearing. good luck, chuck.
