Torn engine mount 200

Someone ran into the back of my wagon a week ago. Insurers decided it was 'beyond economical repair' and have paid me off. Vehicle inspectors took a brief look and said it should be ok, but don't use the tow hitch (which took all the force of the impact).

On noticing front end vibration, I can see one of the engine mounts has torn; the part is real cheap, but I want to avoid putting too much money into it, especially if it has suffered other damage. Plus I don't have lifting gear - is it worth the effort? Or can I do the mounts myself?

Thanks

To supplement Dave's post and great page: You might pick up something useful from this thread:

I will particularly recommend Art's picture: How to Lift Without a Lift.

Good luck,
Erling.

Torn engine mount 200

On a non turbo engine mounts are easy, there is a link on my front page to a series of photos and a text description of a mount change on my wife's old wagon. Jackstands, floor jack and a piece of wood plus basic metric hand tools are all that's required. Passenger's side shown, driver's side is similar. These things will take quite a beating and still be safe, the same 245 that is in the pics was totaled for a bent hood and busted grill. I repaired it for $50 with parts from the local PNP.
Cheers
Dave

Thanks! That's very reassuring, and your pictures are great too. Should keep me rolling for a few more miles...

Thanks again
