I've got 260,000 miles on '86 240. Was wondering who has the highest mileage? Most of the high mileage bricks have had the odometer fixed...(including mine)...but mine is showing 260,000 and that is the true mileage. The engine runs great and doesn't use any oil. Who's got higher than that on a 240 engine that hasn't been rebuilt?

Had just over 600,000 on the '81 240 when the odometer quit; estimate conservatively that it had close to 700,000 when we gave it away still running. No engine work ever done; just good oil, changed regularly.

what grade/name brand of oil?

This was way back before I knew or cared that much about the details, and had everything done at an indy mech. I believe he was using Valvoline 10W30 out of a 55-gallon drum.

303,000 miles.
That's not exceptional, except that it is on a 1993 model, and in the UK where we have smaller distances!

I thought a guy in Nova Scotia just brought his in for a first time engine rebuild at 1,300,000 miles?

I have a '86 sedan with 294,622 original engine and auto transmission.
I bought it 6 years ago with 180K miles and from the original owner with a receipt for every single little thing done to it. I've kept up on the tradition and too have every service receipt. I wouldn't part with it for anything......because I know what the car has been through.

"Blue" is a 1975 242 B20 Engine, no rebuild, original transmission 353,469 miles

Bought my 1988 240DL the day after Thanksgiving 1987. I now have over 462,000 miles and the engine's original. I'm on my second tranny and that would have lasted longer IF I knew about this board and flushed my tranny every 15,000 miles like I do with the current tranny.

I'm getting 25mpg highway and I don't "baby" it.

My plans are to finish the suspension, paint and interior and then yank the engine, rebulid the block and convert to a turbo.....
