looking at a donor 82 240 with a nice drivetrain but rusty. wondering if the drivetrain will go into an 86 240 wagon? both cars are 4cyl auto (o/d).

any info would be appreciated!

Try for an 87 or later, the computer swaps, etc should be plug and play.
82 was K Jet/CI.

well, maybe.

'82 had either K or LH.

An '82 with LH would be an easier swap into a late model. But easIER does not mean easy.

Stoney is right. Get a later engine.

LH or Kjet - swapping wiring harness and computers (hell FINDING a good 82 harness is step 1) the time and PITA can be better spent on a post 86 mill...

ok...thanks for the info.

I need to do the transmission on the car NOW, the rest of the drivetrain could wait a bit if I just found a good trans, but I've decided to see what's out there for donorcars

Late 80's 240's are not scarce, most yards have some but a few words with the yard buyer can get you the next good one available...
Get a ballpark cost and be willing to take the engine fast and you will be surprised.
