89 240 engine stalling/ on hwy 200 1989

Im cruising at street or hwy speed and engine begins loosing power and wants to quit. I pump the accelerator a few time and engine regains power. Fuel pump or possible water in the tank? Please help. Thx, JOe

I wouldn't suspect either of those things. Water in the tank would probably be worse at idle. The fuel pump runs at a constant pressure all the time. A clogged fuel filter might do it, but probably more so on acceleration than cruising. If it happens again try not pumping the gas and see if it gets better then too.

I would think more of the Fuel Pump Relay or your Crank Position Sensor, but there could be a lot of other reasons too and it might be on the spark side instead of fuel. An easy thing to check is that 25 amp blade fuse on the inside of the fender near the battery. If that is corroded, it could cause intermittent loss of fuel pump too.
