I have a 1980 245, and to get rid of ping, someone suggested by knock sensor could be bad and to replace it. Where exactly does this sensor reside, and is it a part I can purchase and install myself?

    There is no knock sensor on a '80 245. Mine has required 89 octane to avoid pinging since it was around 5 years old.

    I could be mistaken, but I don't believe '80s had a knock sensor.

    Have you tried the basic ping stuff (bottle of Techron, higher octane gas, etc...)?
