240 burns on prime time network TV 200

If you watch Scrubs, you know that for the past few seasons, two medical residents have shared a late 240 which would appear in the show occasionally. Last night Turk had bad news for JD and they flashed back to earlier in the day when it was on fire and then the gas tank had a little explosion.

I hate to see them torch what appeared to be a solid 240 body, but at least it got featured prominantly.

Is it just my imagination, or was their car grey, but the one that burned was brown ?

The one they showed earlier wasn't the one that burned. The one they showed in the previous seasons was a brown ~'84. The one they burned was a maroon 86+ shell with no interior. Personally, I'm glad they didn't burn the older one.....

Ha, I love hearing about being able to spot the miniscule differences between the years! I seriously doubt anyone not on the board would even be able to notice the huge differences between the -'85 and '86+ cars, much less give a good guess for the years. Was it supposed to be the same car?

I'm reminded of the late-model silver/grey 240 that was presumably totaled in an episode of Punk'd, where some band's Escalade was "accidentally" rolled off of the back of a tow truck onto the hood of a 240. I assume the 240 was selected both for its (perceived) "cheap" value. As it was probably a California-engine car, I don't mind--it's not like we need any more underpowered 240s running around!
