hello i used to be just 'Gauvain' smoke probs 200

this is all for a 89 b230f 186k miles

hello all! I have this starting on me now

i have a slight start up smoke, not a cloud forming amount but a slight haze coming out straight fromt he pipe then fades away quick...then nothing during idle...BUT when my wife revved it for me, not redlined or anything, but to 2500 rpm blips...it then did the same thing but in lesser amounts, it doesnt coem out and form clouds or anythign like a constant burning of oil, but maybe valve guides? I was wanting to replace the cam in this head to somthing more performance oriented..and a header, cam gear and elec fan..just for a little more power..not ready for a turbo project yet haha...maybe on another car...

So do you think it could be valve guides? or head related at least? My valves arent loud, but they arent quite either..probably need adjustment. Is this really a hard project? I can work on things, i am not unknowledgable on mechanics of cars or aircraft for that matter...

thanks a whole lot, and i wish i didnt have to change my name on here.....

robert

Assuming that you've already ruled out flame trap/oil seperator and related hoses, it wouldn't hurt to run a treatment of auto rx (www.auto-rx.com )and see what happens before resorting to surgury in case it's just the valve stem seals wanting a little attention.

Good point. Has the flame trap and oil related hoses been checked? Its crude, but try blowing into the flame trap hose. If air does not flow freely, you need to replace the oil separator and or flame trap. If the engine builds up crankcase pressure, oil will escape and some of it may get burned.

hello i used to be just 'Gauvain' smoke probs 200

maybe ill take a look it again, what if my t/b is fully dirty like it was already then what..i replaced the flame trap and hoses...maybe the breather box needs R2 now?

i cleaned the box out with carb cleaner and hot hot water..over and over until it was clear water coming out of it...it shouldnt suck it back up to the intake so quick should it after replacing it and cleaning not so long ago?

anything i can do to make this system not such a pain? i moved the flametrap up higher for ease of removal and thought it would prevent sucking of oil...
