I'm going to the wreaking yard this weekend, and I was wondering if I foudn the drivers side adjustment assembly for the seat and if I could bolt it into my passenger side seat.

Thank's and happy bricking!

This is exactly what I love about these cars. All parts are interchangeable. Well almost. I couldn't imagine having a car that I could not work on.
For instance, upgrading the passenger seat track is not something that I have to do, it's just something that I want to do. I LOVE playing with the brick.

Before you go to work for that seat......... 200

Go to a dealer and pay the $20 (or so) for a brand new grid. Then have available a scrap of low napp carpet, coupla feet square or so.

Also have your vacuum cleaner handy.

Remove the seat. Vacuum clean all the stuff that you can't get at when the seat is in place - all the month-old french fries, gune wrappers, missing pennies, bits of seat foam, etc. Do a super job, as you won't be back again for several years.

With the seat upside down, you can see how things are. The carpet is to put in three places. Easiest is a piece cut to fit between the grid and the foam block.

If the seat perimeter frame has begun cutting into the foam block I put a piece, maybe 11 inches by 3 or 4, wrapped over the top of the perimeter frame sides. This requires pulling the hog rings (save for re-use) using a pair of slip-joint pliers and a pair of needle-nose pliers, so the the side skin fabric can be moved to allow clearance for the carpet.

You will see how the adjuster system fits into the same place as the non-adjuster system. Actually the passenger seat can be adjusted, but there are bolts instead of the moveable pins, so it's a one-time thing.

Good Luck with the job. The re-habbed seat will be most comfortable.

PS: There ain't no easy way to stretch the springs back into place. I start with one of the middle pairs.

Let me get this straight. You're just grabbing the entire driver's seat, bringing it home, pulling out your entire passenger's seat, and putting in the driver's? There will be two driver's seats in the front, one on each side?

If that's all there is to it, then I'll keep that in mind when I hit up the junkyard. There's no huge rush to have a passenger seat that adjusts easily, but if I can find one that matches, why not?

I think he is just swaping the lower portion of the seat...the drivers tilt, and elevation mechanisim. To put the drivers seat in place of the passangers deat would have all the knobs for lumbar, etc. on the wrong side....hard (difficult) to get at.

That's right. The seat itself detaches from the sliding frame. The driver's side frame has height adjustment, the passenger's, not. They will swap over, but you need to bend the rear fixing lugs a bit to get the holes to line up.

The driver's side seat height/tilt adjuster will fit nicely on the passenger side seat. I have doen that on all my 240s except parts cars, of course.

It makes a nice upgrade. The levers still move the same way - I did not see a way to reverse them. Maybe you will??

    Good Luck,

    Bob

great question Brick Driver... guess what I learned today on the BB? 200

Another modification for me to do!!! SUPER SWEET!!!

I have been accumulating all the parts for my seat(s) restoration and was wondering the same thing; at least, after I switch the driver's seat to the passanger position with the seat elevated.

Great to know. And, good to be down w/ such a killer website!

      Peace, Jon
