Idle hands are the devil's workshop. 200

I've got idle issues it would seem. In the '93 245 with automatic trans., the motor shuts off at times when I release the throttle to come to a stop or, if I'm just driving around residential areas slowly and come to a stop, the motor stops. It starts just fine, but I wonder if this is just a low idle issue (reads about 5-600 rpm on the dash tach at idle), or perhaps the idle control valve needs cleaning. Anyone have experience with idle control valves...what are the typical symptoms related to those devices. I know I can adjust the idle up a bit and hopefully this will stop this annoying tendency to stall the motor nearly every time I pull up to a signal or stop sign.

Thanks as always,

JBeechcraft

Clean the throttle body, including the port for the idle adjustment screw. Replace the gasket. Also take the hoses off of the IAC valve and run some carb cleaner through it. After you do these things, then try to bump up the idle speed if it's still a problem.

Make sure all of your tuneup items are taken care of.
