So. I live in Tempe, AZ and there are no Volvo parts places around here (also very few people who work on old Volvos or even know what they are). The closest place is Revolvo in Tuscon and after calling them I decided a trek down to the junkyard in the desert was in order. So I jet down there one Friday after work and manage to dig a fairly good PV444 front bumper out of the heap, shocking the guys at the desk who said 'those don't exist.'
Here's what I paid for it:
$150 for a front bumper (3 pieces and overrider bar), in need of chrome, with only a few slight dents
$250 for the chrome job (NuChrome in Tuscon)
$54 for the mounting hardware, bolts and new rubber grommets
gas to get to Tuscon
assuming I can mount it myself, I paid $454 for this bumper
The question is, could I have bought a new one for this price? You have to factor in the shipping costs as well. Also, the smell of a good plating house. mmmmmmmmm
