I pulled the relay yesterday and opened it up. Using a magnifying glass I was able to see the minute cracks in the solder. I went ahead today and ordered a new replacement and will attempt to solder this one later. I want the securtiy of having a newer relay and deal with this used one later.

when soldering on waferboard based electronics use one of the cheap stick style soldering irons which run a bit cooler and will prevent burning up the board and chip

you wont need any new solder just melt the old solder really well and be very careful not to let the solder cross any boundaries on the board

also ensure that the two side edges of the board do not have any lumps of solder or it may be difficult to get it to slide back into the relay case

doing a good solder job on relays will save you much money inb the future and it only takes a few minutes
