fixing a bug with a bug 120-130

Thanks to everyone for the advice on the foot-operated switch. Amazingly I found a vintage Bug shop (called Beetle here) near me and they had the exact same switch, which worked first time.

This place was life a supermarket, with every tiny tool and part stacked in little boxes. Now why can't there be a Volvo one near me?

Can any clever person say which other parts are interchangeable, just for an emergency?

Tom

The rubber union on the steering shaft from a beetle work great, you can even get neet coloured urethane ones(I used the standard black $10 cdn funds). Also the front shocks are listed in the books as a 62 corvette(I used dimensions to source mine and the vette shocks are the right size).

Merci

Yvan

the points and condensors will work with some distributors. they had the correct ones for my 1964. they did not have a matching cap. they probably have fuel filters that will work as well. it's good to have spares.

i wonder if they have aftermarket air filters that would adapt. i have found them hard to find locally, and prices are really inexpensive at my local vw shop.

You can try with the ones for VW Fox or VW Jetta. Need to make the up and down sides (I take mine from a old SU filter, cutting it).

up and down sides....? Do you mean you need to do some cutting for the holes on the undersides to match up?

Any used SU filter has it. I only cut and discard the middle (or best, replace it with the VW filter). OK, on that moment I had one old filter...

fixing a bug with a bug: bug parts useable on amazons 120-130

On my limited experience:

- Hidraulic brake switch (for brake lights - later amazons use a mechanical switch instead).
- Front main lights (with a bit of creative adaptation)
- Original size 650-15 tires
- Panel switches & lights (not te same, but work)
- Coil (bosch blue coil)
- Radio antenna
- In a emergency, the beetle carb can be adapted to our Amazons, but with a loss of power.
