Turn Signal Flasher Unit Replacement? 140-160

Im trying to replace the flasher unit of my 164e, it was removed prior to my ownership, so I think I'm just looking for two loose wires under the fascia panel (thats the dash, right?) with female ends. Can anyone tell me the general area where to look for these? Right now the turn signals don't blink, just come on solid, and shortly blow the fuse....

Turn Signal Flasher Unit Replacement? 140-160

I don't think the flasher is your problem, but then I'm not sure what is. What I am clear on, and wanted to offer, is that there are two types of flasher depending on the year of the car. The 72 & prior use a standard flasher. I think it may be under the apron of the dash by the steering colomn, or in may be in with the fuses. The 73-74 cars use a really really rare flasher that is $30+ from Volvo, and it is clipped to the drivers side metal frame of the plastic console, pretty much invisible, unless you know to look for it.
