242 Turbo flat hood on E-bay 200

Good Morning All,

To be honest who gives a crap if it's a real flathood, it looks like a really nice car. Too bad I have to finish one before I can get another...

You have a 90% chance of having an original flathood if:

You have a 6 digit VIC code
the VIN# denotes that the car was made in 1983 at "Volvo Europe" factory
the chassis number is between 223940 and 237369

Car's vin # is yviax4724d2236315

I saw that one come in, the grill is wrong for a genuine flathood, should be silver. Could have been painted but it is probably one of the clones with an Austrailian or european grill.

I have a grill and bezels that I thought was from a flat hood. It is the single round headlight each side version and has a chrome strip that goes around the outside of both bezels and along the top and bottom of the grill. What is it?

Thanks

Steve

Hello,

You do have the headlight set from a flathood, just one that is from a 1980 and down 240.

Happy Bricking!!!

By "clone," I presume you mean it's an attempt to ride on the fame of the 1983 US Group-A SE Volvos. However, looking at the flathood page, it looks *to me* that the eBay car has the same type grille as some of those in the gallery. I think I see a few in there that don't appear to have silver fronts.

More importantly, do you really think that the seller is trying to pass of his car as one of the "real" flathoods? It looks to me that he describes it only as a turbo, intercooled 242.

Most importantly, I suppose, why *shouldn't* someone get this car? I know I'd trade my Brick for a 240 turbo in good condition a heartbeat, just to have the extra power. It looks to me that the eBay car is in good condition and, other than the bidding that is out of my price range already, that it would be a good buy.

No the seller is not even mentioning the homologated lineage. My point was that someone should do a bit of investigation if they think they are going to get a colectable car out of this. Sellers don't always know what they have, search Volvo GT on ebay and you'll find a '79 DL with GT steering wheel and R-Sport dash that someone is trying to pass off as a GT. That turbo seems to be a good looking car but it may or may not be a genuine "Flathood"

Hey Dave,

I sent that guy with the poop-brown '79 DL an e-mail and he added to his auction that "it may not be a GT". Tells me he has no clue what it is. He also has some other older cars, looks like a backwoods curb-siding rip off artist. LMAO!!!

Maybe it's just me, but on the pic of the passenger side of that "GT" doesn't it look like there may be a rust problem on the bottom of the doorframe?
