Was just looking around Ebay when I stumbled upon this CRAP!

The seller mentions that you can get an increase of up "20 Hosrepower" but fails to leave out that by running rich you will kill your MPG and IMHO cause more harm than good to the poor CAT.

I must say that this guy has an interesting sales pitch that should bait a few suckers. Currently my 79 264GL has this same setup already installed. It is called "Grounding the temp sensor wire that connects to the Lambda Sond Module #7 pin so that the car thinks it is running cold thus it will add more fuel - Speed Chip." But I actually do not have a chip, I have it wired to my unused FOG LIGHT Switch in my center console. Looks like I have just saved myself $20. My wife will be proud!!!

Awhile back my son spotted a Jaguar on Ebay described as having the V-12 engine. The photo of the engine showed clearly it was the small block Chevvy engine ( a good enough engine). When my son emailed the seller pointing out the false representation of the car, the seller merely took the image off the Ebay site and still claimed the car had the V-12.

I thought to "lean-out" the fuel system, you are adding LESS fuel.

How can a resistor make an engine bring in more air?

Thats one of the things that a sharp mind for automobiles would catch and raise a red flag. In theory this guys SPEED CHIP is supposed to trick the computer that the car is still cold overall and thus it should richen the mixture in order to warm it up properly, hence ther reason he says the chip makes the ECU go into a DEFAULT MODE, A.K.A LIMP-HOME MODE as far as the amount of gas given to the engine is concerned. Like I mentioned it would cause havoc on your MPG and CAT (And I'm not talking about Mr. Fluffy!). I admire this guys bravery to stand by a product with no merit or technical/mechanical value.

I'm going to E-mail the seller and tell him that the Volvo 240's do not have an IAT Sensor and what he recommends I do with my car. Happy Bricking!

I don't know about the C70, but the fact that the "240, 260 and 740" don't have an "Intake Air Temp" (IAT) sensor makes me a tad suspicious.

And yes, the 740 Regina does have an IAT, but I don't think the Queen would be pleased with the imposter.

Albeit a nice car, but it's a poop-brown DL with an R-sport dash cluster. If you search for 'volvo gt' there's actually a nice, rust free florida GT that needs a little work to be just super. It will probably go for real cheap as well.

eBay is the junk flea market of the universe. Trust your fellow brickboarders for good advice and good deals.

Ebay? What about foam air filters to unharness all that hidden 240 power, "ram" air, teflon oil additives, magnetic fuel aligners, and on and on ad nauseum?

You can't blame the guy for trying, and you can't blame the guy because the world's full of people dumber than him. As Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

You only need to do a little research to know to avoid that shyster.

For example, his rating is UNDER 95%. Not good.

And one of the negative comments from a dissatisfied customer is: "took 2 weeks to ship, turns out mod chip = 2 cent resistor, dont waste your money"

Another negative comment is: "dont waste your money i think the resistor was stolen from high school science..."

Keep in mind that a good education always costs good money.

With all the 'make millions on e-Bay' scams showing up in my 50 daily spams on yahoo, 'CAVEAT EMPTOR" (let the buyer beware) is more important now than ever.

hmm that looks like a pretty pricey peice of resistor wire. But anyone who wants to go fast by cheating the computer has probably hollowed out the cat already. That(gutted cat) and a throttle body spacer seems to be a good real world way to make more power(and polution) on a budget. This guys thinny is not as bad a deal as the $36-45 'GM Code reader' sold at most auto part stores...

1) A U shaped 1/4 of a paper clip from diagnostic terminals a-b
2) a 5g steel weight so it feels like you bought something
3) injection molded plastic housing to hod 1 and 2 together
4) colored sticker so you don't mistake it for the Ford one.

Build cost @$0.25? thats a nice markup.

I like the ebay 'turbo whistler' exhaust insert. it spins and makes turbo like noise while restricting the pipe.

AutoZone gave out thousands of free code readers a few years ago, complete with the code list. As simple a thing as it is, I still thought it was a nice gesture.
