Mechanic replaced my 6 month old battery 700

My mechanic recently replaced my battery. The battery he replaced was approx. 6 months old. My car had not been started in 5 days during extreme cold in NYC. Is it possible for the battery to freeze and not be rechargeable? The car still won't start. Now my mechanic says it may have something to do with a cold sensor module or relay to the main computer. What's up? Thanks.

I think that I would be looking for a new mechanic. It is possible for a battery to freeze IF it is discharged. Freezing can/will junk a battery. First question would be why was the battery discharged enough to freeze. Never heard of a cold sensor module in the past 30 years in the auto trade, sounds like your"mechanic" doesn't know as much as he should and is grasping at straws at your expense. Take your car to someone else. Good luck, rcs.

Cold sensor module? Maybe the coolant temp sensor? That doesn't seem so far fetched.
