I'm about to change mine and being cheap, I don't want to pay someone else if all I need is a large socket, a steel bar and a long bolt. (I have air tools)

Here I have made for you simple sketch of this tool.
But I was using also some washers and cylinders.
I will also look for sketch how should it look like, by Volvo.
Without Volvo tool it is very difficult job :(

OK, the front tires are new and the car is aligned. Now I need rear brakes, rotors and pads.

Well, I had to break down and take the lower control arms to the dealer for the bushing R&R. I got my favorite Volvo tech, Mr. Bay13 himself, to do the job. I reassembled the suspension and now the car is ready for prime time. It needs an alignment and two new front tires and it should be good for another 130K miles.

I don't see how that would work since the bushings need to be pressed into the control arm.

I found a local shop that will do the removal and installation for a small cost. I just need to remove the lower control arms and take them over.
