Best way to supprot rear axle 200

Replacing all the rear bushings on my project car and wonder what is the best way to support the rear axle during this time. Have allready removed the torque rods and panhard rod. Need to support the rear axle before the trailing arms are removed. Was thinking of maybe getting another set of jack stands.

Someone earlier posted that they had a problem in getting the axle assembly back together after pulling of the various rods and TABs. The problem was that the axle can twist when it is no longer supported and held in position. This twist changes the spacing between the mounting holes. When I did the rear bushings on my 240, I first pulled the torque rods, installed new bushings, and then reinstalled the rods. Then I did the TABs. (I didn't do the Panhard rod.) If you do it this way, you won't need but one set of jackstands and a floor jack.

I'd be interested in how the car drives with all poly bushings. Where did you get the bushings?

Ended up getting another pair of jack stands for $10 at Walmart. The bushings I will be getting from a guy in Canada. He's suppose to have my order ready to ship this week. Thier SuperPro brand. So far I got the panhard, torque rods bushings pressed out and 3 coats of POR 15 on the rods. Trailing arms were removed today. While working in the back will also be installing IPD sways and Koni sport shocks.

I agree with Jim's way of doing it. Next time I do TAB i will try to do one side at a time. Good luck Dan

thanks for the reponse. Made the home made bushings tools and used it on my other Volvo. This car is going to get all poly bushings. The poly rear trailing arm bushings uses the orginal shell so no need to press it out.

Please post back after you install the POLY bushing in the rear of you brick. I would like to know how much more ride harshness there is, if any compared to the stiffness in the rear end. Good Luck!
