Thanks to all on this board who helped and advised me during my quest to find a quality 940. I ended up with a white 1993 940NA sedan with 80K miles from ebay for $4850. It is in beautiful shape. I did as many of you suggested and did my research. Clean carfax. One onwner who traded it in on a new Mercedes. I found the dealership that did most of the work on it and got the car's maintenance history. I had my mechanic go over it as well. We found very little that needs to be done to it. I will now go thru the FAQs for preventative maintenance items after purchase and replace oil, filters, flush, etc. The exterior paint is in great shape and the interior leather fantastic. The 550 mile drive home yesterday was a pleasure.
Now I am the proud owner of a 1989 240 and a 1993 940. Guess Ill have to change my Brickboard sign-on name!

Congratulations. I started with a 850, now have a 940 and a V70. Overall, Volvos are about the best cars made. Some people complain, but when you are mid way through a 6 hour drive and feal like you just started, you realize just what a Volvo is. When you have your infant in the car seat in the back, you know what a Volvo is. When you get hammered by some SUV, you know what a Volvo is.

Luke, I have had 10 Volvos,eight of them 240s.My next car will be a 940 wagon.
I haven't decided on a turbo or not.I figure if you can get a low milage 10 year old Volvo you're doing pretty good.

Other than test drives, I had never driven a 940. My initial impression is that a 940 is a 240 on steroids! I like them both for different reasons.
