1971 142 body restoration 140-160

I have started the tear down of my newly acquired 142. Hopefully the engine is going to be out this weekend so I can finish getting it ready for sand blasting. Which brings me to the point of this message (rather than just showing off a 142 in pieces):

Does ANYONE have pictures of the volvo replacement body panels which have part numbers which begin with 615XXX? The parts book I have skips right over those part numbers. I have been searching for a few days (even calling suppliers) with no luck yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Tim. I am aware of those resources. My problem is not so much finding the parts as it is finding pictures of the repair panels I need, which no one seems to be able to furnish.

Sorry no, 615254, 615264, 615258 numbers.
My Collision Estimating Guide is for 164 1969-74 from 1980.
What parts are you referencing?
Tim

The parts I am referencing are supposedly all volvo replacement sheet metal. I have the part numbers and brief text descriptions of the location/section. But, obviously pictures of sheet metal patches would be much more useful than a short text description.

I guess I am just going to have to order them up with just the text description and hope that I don't order ones I don't need and I can easily fab the stuff that they don't fix :)

I'm probably just stressing out a bit too much on it :) My 140 has the "usual" rot and it's not as bad as most I have seen so chances are the patches will be big enough and in the right spots.

Thanks for your help tho Tim

Glad you got the Va car, it looks solid. Body panels are hard to find, I'm hopeful the 142 will become more collectable and therefore create a market for restoration parts, IMHO they are better looking than the 242, but I wouldn't turn a flathood down of course, there's one on Ebay now in Colorado.

I have a very nice pair of 1973 142 fenders, they are burgandy in colour but they are just hanging in my garage if you want, you can make me an offer. My wife will thank you. Thanks Adrian.

the beauty of 142s 140-160

Flathoods are nice, but not an early 142.

Yeah thats the car I picked up in west virginia over the holidays. Hauled it back with a u-haul :)

This lack of body panels and information is painful. I have 3 sets of fenders but couldn't make one good set. The best set I have are a pair of 73+ fibre glass ones I picked up last year. They are some hurting though. Missing bolt holes in many places, have had rivets put in them and a healthy dose of sun damage. I am hoping to be able to repair them or make a set of new ones.

Of course I could buy a steel fender for around $500 bucks CDN (not happening any time soon)

Below is my first 142, it looks nice but I made some of the frame with my cousin last year :) It will yield a few bits for the new one in the next few months I think.
