New Rear Shocks Rattle & Leak

Last Spring I put BilsteinTouring shocks and struts on the 940. One rear shock leaked in the first month (puddle on the floor).

FCP promptly replaced the leaker. Later I noticed rattles from the rear when going over "parking lot patches". Then I read BB posts about the BT's upper(?) shock bolt hole being oversized, allowing movement and noise.

Today, trying to see if I could shim or otherwise cure the noise problem, I discovered that both rear shocks are leaking! Not puddle-on-the-floor leaking, but clearly wet on the upper part of the lower tube.

Before I call Nick at FCP, I'd like to know how many others have (or haven't) had these same rattles and/or leaks with Bilstein Touring rear shocks.

Your responses will be very much appreciated,

Bruce

New Rear Shocks Rattle & Leak

I had Bilstein Tourings installed on my wife's 940 recently. I have experienced the same noise you describe, but I have not had any fluid leakage, at least not as of two weeks ago. I will be going in this weekend (weather permitting) to shim the upper bolts, and I'll let you know if I find any fluid.

Thanks Jason,

I'm sure at least one other person posted on the rattles—made shims from scrap stainless tubing I think. Didn't give any dimensions that I recall.

I'll be interested in your results, although I may not be keeping these shocks.
