What keeps a Brick going ??...Newton's First Law 200

An object in motion tends to stay in motion...

If your brick is allowed to fall into disrepair it will never
run right...
I am convinced that allowing the broken visor clip to stay in
place some how effects the engine wiring harness

Newtons First Law also explains why the rear end of your 240
continues around the front end on Ice

I am under the impression that the best thing to keep bricks going indefinitely is a combination of gooey black grease and human blood, specifically from my knuckles.

Patience and time. The engines run well but it's the little things that need keeping up. In my case it is sweat and blood.
My 244DL sees 120plus miles a day only cause it is fun to drive and it is a well liked car by most people. Might as well show it off-LOL!!
I really love my VOLVO, and when strangers say looks good or I like the look of your car it makes me feel good.

One of 2 things,
1. An owner who takes care of the car, not letting little things build up to major repairs, ie. routine maintenance and repair with the help of the Brickboard.

or.
2. One heck of a lot of $$$$$ donated to your local dealer or Volvo shop.

Personally I'm a cheap ba$tard and pick number one :-)
Happy New Year All.

Parts 200

In my case it's the simple overall design that makes it easy for the average shade tree mechanic to work on. One other thing I believe that is absolutely crutial is to use the car everyday. When they sit around, they start to have problems. I used to think changing the oil every 3000 miles was also crutial, but after 14 years and 270,000 miles I have my doubts. The engine in my car uses no oil. I have done 3-5000 mile oil changes with Castrol GTX 10W30 all it's life, but sometimes I think the B230F could go 30K between changes on "Wal-Marts best" (any-grade) and still not have anything major wrong with it for at least 150,000 miles. The engine seems as over-built as the 364ci Nailhead in my 1957 Buick; an engine that is also legendary for it's durability. It is often said that GM made a mistake on that engine: they built it too good. The B230 family is in the same class.

By the way, the flame trap on my car has plugged about every 20K miles no matter how clean the oil was kept. A big contrast from what I saw when I changed the valve cover gasket a few weeks ago: no sludge, not even on the underside of the cover and only a very light honey-color film on all the parts. (I assume this is a varnish deposit.)

I alway's add a can of chicken noodle soup at every 3rd oil change, my brick seems to love it!

Oil changes every 3000 miles is a good place to start...

Just basic TLC.
