I am looking for advice for what manual might contain the best wiring diagrams for an 1989 240 DL wgn. I already have the Haynes manual and the diagrams in it are horrible.

The diagrams in the Haynes manuals are copies of the volvo diagrams; everything's there.
HOWEVER, for a better look, get the factory Green manual at

Bentley is not much better. Try getting the Volvo Group 30 wiring book, all systems are shown as well as most accessories.
