Possible Brake Booster Problem?? 700 1988

Hi, I tracking a soft pedal problem. I have replaced the master cylinder an bled the brake lines and still have a low pedal. I checked the vac hose and check valve and they seem fine. I pumped the brake to drain vac, started the car, and pushed pedal to floor, when I turn the car off and let off the pedal it comes right up and I hear air escaping. Is this the booster or a vac line in the car or what? Can anyone help. Thanks

Possible Brake Booster Problem?? 700 1988

A faulty booster will give a hard pedal due to lack of assistance.
There is a solid rod through the centre of the booster connecting the pedal to the master cyl.
Even if the booster is faulty it cannot cause a low pedal.
My guess is that you have not got all the air out of the system, you may need to pressure bleed the system.
Another , but rare, possibility is a flexible brake hose ballooning under pressure.
    Colin.
