Abnormal vibration / shudder 700 1989

Hi,

1989 760GLE V6 / AW-71

I'm getting shuddering vibration at revs other than idle in neutral. It seems to be coming from around the tranny area. No problems in other gears, except for what seems to be a driveline "flutter" under hard acceleration. What could this possibly be?

Cheers, Tim

Australia

    Motor Mounts? Driveshaft Ctr bearing/carrier? 700 1989

Seems like a lot of this around lately, including my 940. I'm not quite fixed yet. Check for all exhaust-to-engine/tranny mounts being there. See what the FAQ (pull-down Feature menu) has to offer.

"Watch this space", and good luck,

    1) Motor Mounts (check for at least 1/4" between oil pan and rubber on X-member.

    2) Tran Mount

    3) D-shaft Ctr. bearing and/or its carrier bushing

Just went all thru this w/'93 940, and still have a constant, RPM-sensitive vibration that peaks around 2700 rpm (idling or at any speed/gear). Makes your fillings quiver at 2700 rpm. I posted on this recently. May have got some hints that will help you.

    Good luck,
