AC Blows Hot Air S90-V90

Hi. I have a 97 V90. Today, my AC decided not to blow cold air. I checked the compressor and it was running, but no cold air. A few weeks ago, it did this and I turned the car off and it ran for a while then went hot again. It was such a hot day, I ran the car through a car wash to cool it off for me and my dogs who were passengers(dark color=very hot). I started the car up and it was cold and stayed cold for the next four hours of my car trip. I have actually had my engine replaced since this originally occurred. Do you have any ideas why this might be happening? My car is for sale and I would like to sell a correctly running car.

It is really hot today...in the 90's and humid.

My '98 S90 did the same thing, in Yuma AZ on Labor Day weekend '99. It turned out to be the controller. Just one more component failure on this ex-car.

    Low on Freon?
Does blue light ever flash on the controller?
During the malfunction, compressor running continuously or off and on? Is the accumulator cold and sweating?

The light does not go on and off and the light stays constant. I don't know if the accumulator is cold and sweating. To be honest, where is the accumulator. I do know, however, that occasionally there is condensation "smoke" that comes out of the vents.

Check the condenser mounting areas. Corrosion between the aluminum and the steel will cause leaks. I'm suffereing from this problem right now. I have my dash apart to I can replace the evaporator. I'm also going to replace the consenser.

Warren,I too dismantled my dash to replace the heater core, it meant removing the entire ECC unit, what a nightmare! But the job went OK, cahrged up the AC and alls well now. I am pretty sure that to remove the evap you just have to remove the glove comp area, the corrigated metal knee bolster and few other things. The evap then slides out after you remove the tiny screws on it's cover and disconnect the lines under the hood. But I guess you know all that, I hope. Putting in new accumulator/dryer too?

      Good Luck
