A/C and Heater Interior Control Switch for a 740 GLE 700 1988

I recently bought a 740 GLE that needed a little work. The mechanic I have has been able to take care of most of the major stuff but we can't seem to find the interior A/C and Heater switch for love or money. Well that is not entirely true; the dealer wants $600 for a new one. Since I paid $900 total for the car I do not want to pay this price. If anyone has any great salvage yard tips or even has the part on their hands I would be willing to buy the part and pay for the shipping costs. It is very important that I find this part, as I will need my defroster in the winter. (Please keep in mind that I am a veterinary student who is short on funds).

    Do you mean the heater-a/c control module, with the fan switch and temperature controls? What's wrong with it? Is it missing?

      To clarify my problem. The heater and A/C control module inside the car is broken. At the moment it is permanently fixed in the A/C maximum position. (That might not be a problem now in July, but I will find it inconvenient to say the least in IL in February.) I would like to find a used module I can stick in my car, if there is one out there for a decent price.

        My 90 740 did the same thing today,took it apart and found that a plastic piece lets go from the vacuum valve and jams the lever from moving,you can buy just the valve ,one quarter inch screw holds it on.Part#1323744 vacuum valve about $30.00

          Thanks to all for all your help and advice. I was able to replace the vacuum vaule switch (for relatively cheep) and now it works like a charm! "Tranny man" was right, it was just that small piece that was broken. Thanks again.

      What a coincidence... the 88 wagon we picked up today for our downstairs neighbor is missing the module as well. Guess I should be glad our other 88 is complete!
