m 46 not fully engageing into reverse 200

The problem started about two weeks/500 miles ago
Currently as of today it will not fully engage when shifted into reverse. I shift into reverse, release the clutch, and it "sorta" goes into reverse. It slowly backs up, but the enginge is reving. If i put my foot on the barke while in reverse, the engine idles- it stays in gear with no stalling.- but not moving- If i let my foot off the brake then reverse motion resumes, like an automatic.
If i then put it into 1,2,3 or 4th gear the clutch grabs right away.
Symptoms started on road trip thru Ill. I was pulling out of a gas station in reverse, it engagdedv very roughly, vibrating the heck out of the car, but caught after a second or two and then engaged reverse and the car backed up. I put it into 1st as normal and drove away.

This sympton, of struggleing to get into reverse has gone on for a week and a half now.
Today it got worse. I tried reverseing on a slope and this new condition of slipping started.

Replaced clutch cable one week ago after it snapped. Had to adjust it down to the last thread to get it set right.
Origonal Volvo clutch/pressure plate. bearings with 202,000 miles on it.

Is it the clutch, or is it the tranny, or something else.
I am plany to do the clutch no matter what in about a week.

Any suggestions.
