VACUUM CHECK VALVE??? 700 1985

I went to the local volvo dealer to buy a vacuum check valve- they said they never heard of a check valve. Am I nuts or is there another name for the valve that affects the opening and closing of the dash vents. Any help appreciated as always.

Thanks,

Bob H.-Boston

Find another person at the dealer service desk that knows what they're talking about. The piece you're referring to is an ATE vacuum check valve. It is about $20 and way overpriced, but I don't know where else to get the part other than at a dealer. BTDT, my '89 760 Tic has two of them.

If they don't want to pull their heads out of their butts, check with Borton Volvo (BortonVolvo.com, I think) They sell on-line and over the phone and will probably beat your dealer's price anyway.

VACUUM CHECK VALVE??? 700 1985

Hi Mike,
I bought the check valve at a local shop. Just put it in-it seems that my 740 has two valves also. I swapped them around but it didn't change the air situation any. I'll get another valve tommorrow anf see if it helps.
Btw- is it possible to clean these valves?

Thanks for your help,

Bob H.-Boston

You may check IPD. I'm pretty sure they carry them also. At least the picture looks like what I think you're referring to.
