Oil Leak from speedometer gear drive 1800

Hello all
I have a 1967 P1800S that leaks a considerable amount of transmission oil down thru the speedo gear assy. I have replaced the whole drive assy with another used unit but it still leaks.
upon examination it is not apparent why it leaks.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem? If so can you suggest a fix?
Regards
Bryan

Do you have that little round seal that goes on the end of the speedo cable? Those are often missing on old Volvo's that have been apart and back tegether again a few times. With that missing oild will leak out from the speedo cable end.

on those old cars with angle drives, there is a small lip seal inside the housing, if you look carefully at your housing youll see that it is actually 2 pieces that press together, the local volvo dealer can get you the seal, id guess about 10-15 dollars, and then a if you dont have a press find a reputable machine shop and im sure they will diasassemble and reassemble it for you.
