engine change 700 1988

Will a 1990 2.3 liter 8 valve non-turbo engine and transmission (automatic) from a 740 wagon, fit a 1988 740 wagon. I found a very inexpensive 1988 and just happen to have a 1990 drive train.
Any help will be appreciated

    Sure; pretty easy swap.

The easiest way is if the 88 has the SAME transmission. The 1990 should have a 4sp w/electronic overdrive (the 03-70 model, or 03-70L). If the other car has a ZF, you'll have to do a little wiring. Also the trans crossmember MIGHT be different, as MIGHT the driveshaft.

Although they might not. I've never done a ZF to AW swap. But an AW-AW swap, plus a B230F swap (regardless of EFI systems) is as easy as swapping any car engine could be.
