GOOD TRADE... 90 - 240 FOR 91 - 740? 200 1990

I am considering a trade from my 90-240 with 130K and in reasonably good shape (no rust or significant body damage, but needs a paint job) for a 91-740 with 80K and in great shape.

The question comes about how much do I pay with my 90-240 trade? He is asking $3800. I was thinking about offering my 90-240 and $1000. Is that a good deal or is it worth more?

I know this is hard to pin down without knowing all of the particulars, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

As always, THANKS,

Don

    GOOD TRADE... 90 - 240 FOR 91 - 740? 200 1990

I have both a 240 and a 740. I like the 740 better. It is larger, better engineered, and a better ride on the open road. At one time, I prefered the 240 and I have had four of them across the past twenty years, but my GLE has won me over. If you could get a really good 740 for your car and a $1000 buck, I would say GO FOR IT. However, considering your need of paint, etc., good luck . . . Where is this car located? I might be interested, if you are not (my 740 now has 230k on the clock, and my teenage son is saving for sway bars, etc. for when I "officially" turn it over to him).

Itchy for a 740? Are you unhappy with anything else besides the paint on your 240? As you can tell, I prefer the 240 styling, but that's just me.

A 91 with only 80K miles raises some questions, of course - hard city driving? OD fraud? Just the usual questions, but perhaps worth asking. That is about the lowest mileage I've seen for a 91. My 92 244 has relatively low miles (bought from lovely 86 year old woman), but I had it checked out for wear and tear in case she drove it hard around town (she didn't).

It might be worth it at that mileage.
