White Cap Distributor 200 1982

Hello All,

I have problems!!!! I have a american ovlov up in Canada and the rotor and assembly just distoryed it self with a little help from me unfortuately. I have a good mechanic up here that is trying to track down parts but it is becoming difficult. Problem is in the 81, 82 year 200 series they put on "one of a kind" cap and rotor configuration called "Chysler setup" or something to that effect. It is a while cap that bolt to engine. I was wondering if anyone has or nows of anyone that would have the lower plate that houses the inhibitor switch on it. I haven't explained this very well but if you know the setup I hope it makes sence. thanks ovlov Rage

Would it take much to replace it with a normal setup from an autowreckers? Where are you located?

I have an 82 with the white cap "Chrysler" ignition. RPR in California generally has the crappy cap and rotor in stock. FCP or others may have it also. Get 2 as they are not 30,000 mile caps or rotors, but are otherwise reliable. They ones available are made be Facet (or something like that) in Italy, which generlly does better. If you go to the dealer they will order it for you and deliver you the same thing in a Volvo box. Good luck.

Unless you find a junkyard replacement or one of the other fine folks come up
with a replacement for you. I recommend just getting a distributor from an
85-88 LH injected US model. This is the Bosch distributor made to work with the Chrysler ignition box. You'll have to splice into the wiring harness and adapt the wires to the plug on the distributor but it just bolts in and set your timing and now you can use the regular Bosch cap that just about every year 240 uses. Hope this helps.

I've seen bosch disributors that already have the round plugs that will plug directly into the chrysler ignition harness with no modification. I'm not certain of the years but I believe it is '83-'85 LH jet.

Adam.
