Scandcar, a Volvo parts supplier and shop in Holland, has both paper reproductions of shop manuals and less expensive CD that include the complete parts catalog as well. I got the CD and it is a gold mine of info. The only shortcoming of it is that it's sometimes hard to print out a .jpg page and get the far right edge and bottom onto the paper copy, even after minimizing my margins. Anybody got a tip on that?

I ordered the CD online with a Master Card. No problems. Probably less than US$40 at current Euro exchange rate plus shipping.

While the Scandcar CD is probably by far the superior alternative, I also see the original shop manuals selling on eBay occasionally. But there are a lot of them - each book seems to cover a small portion of the car. In presumably excessive detail.

volvo world in canada sells copies of the original volvo shop manuals for the 544. I have one and it shows photos, and lists part numbers and special tools needed (and the svo number).
worth the $30.
