86 740 turbo w/176,000 miles for $1000.....good deal?

Hey all,

There is a 1986 740 turbo intercooler for sale w/ automatic trans and 176,000 miles. No rust and the car is in pretty good condition. Now I have been looking for a turbo volvo for some time now and this seems like a good deal. What should I be looking for when checking out under the hood if I take it for a rip? burnt oil? blue smoke? I've never owned or maintained a turbo volvo before so i don't know too much about them.

Sounds too cheap if the car is in as good a shape as you indicate. The mileage is low for a car that old. What kind of maintenance has the car had (dealer or garage)? Check the FAQ on what to look for.
