Follow up on bad idle....now another issue 200 1990

Again, this is a continuation of troubleshooting my idle problem and loss of power under all driving conditions and the engine would be doing a rhumba when idling (shaking side to side). I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and still didn't fix the problem. Looked for vaccum leaks..nothing there. Checked all the sensors (except O2) all seems to be fine. Cleaned TB and ACV...no change in idle. Well, it just so happens that that I had left a FI connector unplugged. Connect it back and the car idles perfectly!!

Now I ran into another issue. The car has major hesitation when I press on the gas pedal under load (ie in D or R) and it jerks going up a hill. It almost feels like the it's losing spark or something, but suddenly regains it. I will be back in the garage troubleshooting ignition cables, cap & rotor etc. Now, would a clogged fuel filter cause the jerking?

TIA!

I DID IT!! Car runs like new now!! 200 1990

Well, it turned out I needed new cap & rotor. I also replaced the plugs with NGK resistor plugs, like the ones IPD sells. I also dumped some FI cleaner in the gas tank and some gas stabilizer....just in case the gas was water contaminated. It's truly a great feeling when it all comes together!

In, summary the cause of poor idle and loss of power was due to disconnected fuel injector connector and the car just needed a tune-up.

I would go a step further and replace both the air and fuel filters for a complete tune-up.

Now, on to my next problem; stuck driver-side window. Seems like the motor or something is frozen!!

Thanks all for your input!

Follow up on bad idle....now another issue 200 1989

Same problem here-where's the FI plug?

It's not a FI plug, but the wiring harness connector to the injector 200 1989

on mine, the wiring harness connects to the yellow connector on the fuel injector. You can test the injectors while unplugging them one at a time while the car is idling. If the car's idle changes dramatically, then it's the injector, if not verify that all injectors are fine by disconnecting the wiring harness and ohming it out...it should read 16ohms or so across the terminals.

I fixed my problem and is posted above under 'I DID IT!! Car runs like new now!!'

Yep..fuel injection...its goes to the yellow connector on the injector 200 1990

I am pulling my hair trying to figure this out. It could be as simple as changing the plugs, which I will complete this afternoon.

Cheers,

Now I am completely baffled.... 200 1990

I put the old Fuel pressure regulator on and the car runs fine.....just a week ago the car was idling so poorly and had no power! Maybe it was bad gas??? Well, anyhow, I am replacing the fuel filter and all the plugs today. See how that goes.
