copperized gasket sealer/maker? miracle matierial? 200 1983

Good Day,

Know the excellent temp resistant and other good properties of (relatively expensive) copper, why Volvos always have it in places where lower grade vehicles don't.

Any advice on using newfangled "liquid copper" gasket goo?

Would it be BAD to use it in certain areas, e.g. where rubber or aluminum (or paper) are involved? Does the stuff "attack" as it were?

Should it be used in conjuction w/gaskets or in lieu/instead of a gasket, as so called "gasket maker?"

Thanks one and all for excellent advice, spring's here and waggon isn't getting any younger.

Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

mille mercis THANKS

Frank

    copperized gasket sealer/maker? miracle matierial? 200 1983

I've always used it in addition to the new gasket. I use it on water and oil applications. Never have tried on intake. I've even sealed up leaky exhaust unions with the stuff, I like it. I smear a thin layer on the gasket, stick it on the block or wherever, then smear the item I'm bolting on, and bolt it up. It fills in those imperfections that are sometimes missed by me. I always wound up with leaks when trying to dry fit gaskets, so I started using the copper plus RTV, always worked well for me, on American crap as well as Volvos. YMMV.
    Good Luck...
