960 TURBO? 900 1991

I WAS LOOKING AT THE GALLERY AND SEEN A PIC OF A 1991 960 TURBO i DIDNT KNOW THEY MADE ONE OR IS IT A BADGE CHANGE OWNER CLAIMED TO BE 960 TURBO

    According to the information provided from Volvo, there are/were 2 engines available in the 960 - S/V 90

    The B6304 and the B6254. Neither have turbochargers.

    Well the car was never badged as a 960 Turbo but the 91 940SE is a 960 with a Turbo. I have 91 940 SE as well as a 92 960. Only major difference is the engine and transmission as the bodies are identical, but the hood is different than the other 940's. The design of the switches operating the front seats was changed between the 91 940SE and the 92 960 otherwise everthing else is the same. My 940 SE came with a wing on the truck but I don't know if that was an option for that year. The 91 940SE is the only 940 with IRS and locking differential. I plan on keeping mine for a long time.

      Somewhere in my muddled-headed mind, I recall a discussion here about 960's in Europe that included nomenclature and configurations that were, well, foreign. I think there was a european vehicle that was named the 960 that was a 4 cylinder turbo. Strange, and even perhaps true...?

        Oh yes, in Europe there was not only the 960 Turbo with B230FT engine but the 960 Turbo 16v with the B204GT engine (wonderful, also came in the 780) and the 960 Turbo Diesel Intercooler with D24TIC (the best of them all, have one of these) so there you are. As I have said before, forget the idea that the second digit is the number of cylinders. 940/740/240 diesel with 6, 780 with either 4 or 6, 460/360 with 4, 480 with 4 and so on.
