tail lights/ins.lights/front lights gone haywire 200 1985

Hello all dont know where to start my 240DL when i step on brake pedal the ins. lights and marker lights in front of car light up. The brake light lights up also. If i switch on the fog(rear)lights than the front drive lights light up instead of the marker lights. Its not blowing fusses. I did notice that the left rear tail light is differnt than the right the pc board on right its like the color wires into plug dont seem to go to the light that it should when following the pattern on pc board at light. Its a 85 240DL are there different lights that are same but different in or on where the plug plugs in. Im not sure how to ask this question properly. I also noticed that the former owner had jumped a wire or wires the two white and the fog wire are jumped on left side (driverside) any help is needed and wanted thanks in advance

Are your brake lights on the bottom outer lamp? If so, you have dual fillament bulbs, and 1 of the bulb bases may be shorted from the brake fillament to the park lamp fillament.

The light pattern changed from 1985 to 1986 though the housing is essentially the same. The PC board is different, and they do sell them separately- you may just need a new circuit board.
The car wiring is the same for all years, other than a change in rear fog light wiring in 1990/91 or so. Hopefully the P.O. didn't hose things up too badly. IF you've got a Haynes manual, it's got good wiring diagrams in it.
The main problem here is you've got a bad ground. It's back-feeding through the brake lights, into the PC board ground and then through the parking light circuits or some other point to ground, instead of the black wires. Check the terminals on the black ground wires and wire brush or sand every suspect connection - use an eraser on the PC boards, they're fragile. IF they're ripped or broken, replace them. Clean your taillight sockets as well, the metal tabs get corroded and bent flat so they don't make good contact.
Good luck and uh, get used to the "bulb out" light...

tail lights/ins.lights/front lights gone haywire AYE roll 200 1985

FYI AYE ROLL the wireing is NOT the same threw the years on 80 to 83 the brn wire go to the tail light. On 84 models the brn wire go to the turn signal and flasher lights. You also said that my ground was at fault. Your at fault, if ground was bad no lights would light up at all and certainly not the front lights. You anser people with out thinking i also stated my fusses werent blowing. If it was a ground problem the fusses would blow you also stated that circuitboards were different but the wireing is the same how does this work. I have Haynes and volvo service manuals. you want to make fun of me i will chop every post you make up and show that you have no clue also my 85 240DL has 83 wireing for the lights and 86 wire for engine think befor you speak i also know the fault in my bulb failure circuit lets here your exp. you also told someone else that there ground was bad dude you dont want me to corect every thing you right so dont make fun of me again (head light cleaning) yes i spell it cleen why its a chemicel i use dont anser my posts i dont want miss info
