RPM/Speed sensor on my 91 200

I want to change my RPM/Speed sensor on my 91 245. My question is regarding info. I have seen like this,

((( IF your sensor lead has a YELLOW Band-change the
sensor-older version, with newer one that has a WHITE band ))).

I bought one on ebay that has the possiblely infamous yellow band and I don't know if I should trust. Anyone with experiance on this your advice is much appreciated.

Hi Lenny:

I recently picked up a speed sensor for my 90 245 from Volvo and it does have the white strip. I had heard this was a "consumable" item and thats why I was changing it. I have no running problems. How about you, did you have any symptom leading you to replace this?

I'm trying to resolve a rough idle but I don't think this will make a difference. I have 144K and I want to change questionable parts that could leave me stranded. Where did you buy yours judge ?

Hi Lenny:

I picked up my speed sensor from the local Volvo dealer, around $45.00 as I remember.
