wet engine 700 1990

I decided to give a little tender loving care and wash (engine too.) It did crank right afterwards. That was 4 days ago. the engine turns over, but it just doesn't seem to hit. It's almost like it has jumped time or something. I did disassemble the distributor and all connections that I could find to remove - dry off all moisture. Am I missing something. Obviously didn't like the bath. I looke in the Swissbrick website and only saw one thing I haven't checked. Catalytic debris. Any ideas - besides not wetting down. Should I be looking for a short of some kind? I appreciate any input - be kind. 760 turbo

Get some DeOxIt electrical contact cleaner at a quality electronics supply store. Get some silicone dielectric grease. Follow the FAQ instructions and deoxidize and protect all your engine electrical connectors. Remove the plug wires and coat the insides of the wire boots with silicone grease. Dry out everything, especially the distibutor/coil area.

Don't forget the power stage connector.

Last fall I did a rebuild of the area around the battery box and the battery cables of our '90 744 Turbo.

I even removed the power stage from the inner fender and cleaned its ground connection. I did not unplug the power stage.

Much to my surprise, the car would not start.

Since the cables and battery box could not be the problem, I soon suspected the power stage. A connector cleaning and dielectric grease saved the day.

Sounding female (hence I am), where is this power stage thing spoken of? Sensing somewhere around the battery / fender area?

Check your injector wires if the harness is open they can short out aswell as the powerstage, I once had a car that did that and water got trapped inside the plug wires and had to replace them.also check AMM connector and all major harness connections

Just wondering since I haven't been able to fire up the Volvo, is there a way to ground out the computer and check for possible problems internally with the electronics. Have completely checked (what I see) all connections even the flywheel sensor. It's been 2 weeks since it's operation.
