Re-use Caliper Mounting Bolts? 200

Do fellow Bricksters follow Bentley's advice not to reuse caliper mounting bolts and replace them with new ones each time they are removed??

a little Loc-tite or even nail polish on the threads if you are nervous about them backing out.
I think some liability lawyer wrote that section

I have always reused mine. The only time I have changed them was when i had rounded the heads off getting the bolts out. I had a hard time getting replacements since not even the dealer stocks them. I have always assumed that manuals like Bentley say to replace them to cover their legal ass if the bolts failed. But even if one bolt failed I doubt it would seriously affect the stopping ability of the car.

They must say that 'cuz they over-ordered ten boatloads of bolts.

I've been reusing caliper bolts since my first Volvo back in '73. Never had a problem.

The original factory shop manual does state to replace the caliber bolts each time. However, the first time I went to the dealer to by them I found the parts department was completely unaware of the recommendation and had to order the bolts. The bolts have a thread locking compound applied at one spot on the threads. It looks like a solid, red plastic material and seems to be reusable. I also have had no problems with these bolts ever coming loose.

I've been working on oldtimers for over 35 years and have not replaced
one yet. Never had any problem with them (other than getting a long
enough wrench with enough stroke to get them loose).

240s may be different from 140, 164, 122 etc though.
