The fact that it hasn't won any prizes tells you that it has a few rough edges. A good paint job starts at around $1K, the chrome looks redone too. Restaurations generally keep the original color, and good detailling involves doing the engine bay as well. Take care, I've checked out a couple of cars that were on ebay and they always looked a lot rougher in person. I don't think I would bid on anything but parts without seeing it first.

A shame indeed hearing about the non-original color... but I sorta like the red/red color combo. Very Italian... Would rather see the white/red combo...one of my all time favorites in anything.

No, havn't seen it...but it sure looks nice. Sounds like it needs serious engine work if the seller is suggesting removal of the oil pan. Which is no big deal. Engine work is easy. It is on its second trip through the ebay scene...first deal that ended on the 9th musta fell through or something.... when it bid up to $5k

I guess 122s are getting to be worth a bit more these days... that sure looks like a fine car, and if that is what you want, go for it. But I still have a problem paying more than $1k for any Volvo...any year. I guess I'm just going to have to deal with that myself though. I've just bought way too many in the sub $201 range I guess.... But those seem to be long gone.

Not to my knowledge, but the fact that it has black front seats and an otherwise red interior calls the concours claims into question.

The mechanical mystery noise and unknown Bondo levels aside, it certainly looks to be worth the money, though.

I spoke to the guy, and seems it has been on the cover of the IPD catalog, and Rolling. Anyone seen it?

It was original white, painted red. Everything was repainted except the engine compartment. The fronts seat were replaced with a perfect pair of black seats. Scored in the 90's at the Volvo Nationals(front seats and the engine compartment was noted as the only faults). The front clip is original. Claims to be 100% rust free- 0% to little bondo. The engine was rebuilt. It has a M40 tranny.

It was bought from the original owner, who moved from California to New Mexico. The car developed a noise (to 9e it sounds like the timing gear), and couldn't find someone in New Mexico to fix it. So it was sold to this guy in CA.

I have a bid in for $4000. I guess I'll see if anyone else think it's worth more??

      Paul

      Not concours - 'concourse'!!!

As odd (and hard on the eyes) as Volvo's old blue/red color scheme was, I've never seen a red/red one.
